  • Blue Tilapia (Oreochromis aureus) are a freshwater fish species

    . They are native to Africa and the Middle East.

    Physical Characteristics:

    • Typically 1-2 pounds and 10-12 inches long

    • Males have a bright blue spot on their dorsal fin

    • Females are more silvery-gray with a faint blue tint

    Habitat and Behavior:

    • Found in freshwater environments, including lakes, rivers, and canals

    • Prefer warm, calm waters with abundant vegetation

    • Omnivorous, feeding on algae, plankton, and small invertebrates

    Reproduction:

    • Males build nests and defend them against other males

    • Females lay 200-1,000 eggs, which are then guarded by the male

  • Channel Catfish (Ictalurus punctatus) are a freshwater fish species.

    Physical Characteristics:

    • Typically 2-4 pounds, but can grow up to 20 pounds

    • 12-25 inches long

    • Olive-brown to slate-grey color with small, dark spots

    • Whisker-like barbels around the mouth

    Habitat and behavior:
